July 31: Kim

On July 31st, Mindy and Amy headed down to Annapolis to help Kim and her gals get ready! Kim sent me some pictures they took during the getting ready process!

She also sent me some professional pictures from F.A. Formica. I love the colors Kim picked out! The gorgeous flowers really pop against the bridesmaids dresses!

We absolutely loved having Up Dos for I Dos be a part of our wedding day. We met Mindy and Amy at 9am on Saturday morning and they were right on time. The Sheraton provided us with a huge room to get ready in. One of the bridesmaid's mothers provided us with a lovely champagne brunch. There were nine of us getting ready so I am sure Mindy and Amy were entertained with all of the stories! Mindy and Amy did exactly what we had done in my trials so there were no hair or makeup "issues". I loved my hair because it looked elegant and it stayed perfectly alllll day and night. My makeup was great too because it was not overdone and it looked very natural. The timing was perfect. We were ready to get dressed at 12:30 just like we had planned on. All of the bridesmaids looked amazing! Each girl's hair looked different and fit each of their personalities very well. My favorite was my younger sister's curly side pony tail! We even got my mom's makeup done and Amy did a great job. Thank you so much for everything. I felt so beautiful for my "fairytale" wedding at the Naval Academy.

August 28: Danielle

Congrats to one of our make-up artists! Danielle was married yesterday and had a gorgeous wedding! Here are two non-pro pics! We had the pleasure of working with the fabulous Jen Lowe. I can't wait to see how she documented the day! The reception was held in a pretty ballroom at the Belvedere downtown Baltimore. It was a lot of fun actually attending the wedding and seeing Danielle's hair from beginning to end! We add a few extensions in to give her hair volume. They lasted beautifully and no one even noticed! Ahhh the difference a few extensions can make!
Have an awesome honeymoon in Cancun!

Peter's Brownies

The world wouldn't be complete if I didn't blog about Peter's brownies. In fact while Karen was planning her wedding to Peter over the last year, the title of our emails were "Peter's Brownies". I promise I'm telling the truth :)

For those of you that follow this blog, you may remember when Danielle and I did Julie's wedding in September 2009, then Ellen's wedding October 2010, there were some yummy brownies made by the famous Peter! Well, this past weekend it was Peter's turn to get married and he was a little busy catching up on his zzzz's to make us brownies! Uh-Oh! Have no fear, Julie stepped in and made the brownies for us! Sorry Peter ~ you officially have competition! They were delish and the highlight of my weekend! I absolutely adore this family and am so glad that we still have sweet Caroline to marry off! After that I think we will just have to host baking parties so we can share brownies and the company of each other! As soon as I have some photos from the bride Karen, I'll be sure to post about her actual wedding to Peter and not just about the world famous brownies! My mouth is literally watering as I type!

Thank you to this family for including Up-Do's For I Do's in all of your wedding bliss and for feeding us amazing brownies! We truly enjoy each wedding with you! I know Pedro is glad he has a break now :)
Poor photo from my camera phone but had to share a glimpse of heaven with the internet!

July 11: Leslie

Mindy headed over to Herrington on the Bay to help Leslie get ready for her big day! We love traveling to Herrington. It is such a gorgeous location and you really feel like you get a mini vacay on the drive down.

Here is Mindy showing the girls how to put in Leslie's veil!
Amazing shot of Leslie's hair! Love the flowers!
So romantic!!

Yum! Love cake pictures! Probably my favorite part of the wedding!
Congrats to Leslie and Bob! Thanks for having us be a part of your big day! Also, thanks to Rissa and Nathaniel of Balance Photography for the photos :)

More vintage...

I was so excited to be a part of another promo card for Retropolitan in Ellicott City. We took vintage veils dating back to the 1950's and 1960's and personalized hairstyles for each veil! It was so fun to create unique looks to really showcase each color and style. Today we see these veils every weekend at weddings. When they were used in the 50's they were know as "whimsies". I love how the style has come back and people are still using the feathers, jewels and flowers today!

I love emails like this!!!

I'll say it before and I'll say it again, I love receiving emails from the bride and her family shortly after the wedding! There are some days I open up my inbox and wonder how I got so lucky? Jan and Sarah were such a joy to work with! They were the perfect mother-daughter combo any wedding vendor could ask for! Congrats Sarah! It was our pleasure!

Ashley,
They're simply aren't words to describe how perfect Sarah's wedding day was for her. Mindy and Cara did a superb job on all of the girls and me!! We all felt extra-pretty that day. I've attached a picture of Sarah so you can see what an awesome job they did. Thank you so very much again for helping to make Sarah's day extraordinary. :)

Going Vintage....

We see all different types of dresses and styles every single weekend! We see new designer dresses. We see wedding dresses that were originally shreds and were remade to a one of a kind dress. We see dresses that haven't changed and that have been passed down through generations. We see vintage dresses! Even though we are the hair and make-up end of the wedding biz we love to see dresses! Ideally we get to see "the dress" when we meet our brides at the trial so we can help create the perfect hairstyle. We never want the hair and make-up to take away, we want it to compliment the dress!

I love these promo cards made especially for Retropolitan in Ellicott City, MD. We had a lot of fun teaming up with Rissa and Nathaniel of Balance Photography! Our model was great and she glamed out the 1950's dress! I adore the birdcage veil. We are seeing these every time we have a trial night. There are so many variations and Retropolitan has a great collection! Clearly we went above and beyond for the hair and make-up. We wanted to do something fun and outside the box. We made it a perfect look for a Glam the Dress shoot! The flowers were designed by Wessel's Florist!
Fun fact: The model has a full head of extensions pinned in. She's really a brunette!

July 16: Emily

I used to do Emily's hair when I worked in a local salon and I was honored that she contacted us for her big day! Emily is a gorgeous girl and made a stunning bride! The style that Mindy came up with complimented both Emily's sweet personality and her amazing fashion sense!
Ahhhhhmazing photos by the oh-so talented Meaghan Elliott! Check out her blog to see more from Emily's wedding!
Look at that hair! I'm so in love!
Congrats to Emily and John!!!

Hi Ashley and Mindy,

I just wanted to say a big thank you to you guys for making my entire bridal party's hair so beautiful for my wedding on July 16! Everyone loved their hair and it stayed in the whole night. I especially ADORED my hair - it was exactly what I was looking for. Mindy did a fabulous job with everyone. She was right on time, very efficient, and fun to work with.

Thank you again!!

Emily Brandon
