Sweet Bakery Baltimore ~ Grand Opening

Turning the corner to Read Street, the smell of sugar filled the air. I couldn't wait to walk in the door to see what Sweet Bakery Baltimore had waiting for their guests.

We were honored to be the hair and make-up sponsor for the gals of this sweet shop. Here are a few photos from the cool kids over at Balance Photography. Make sure you wipe the drool off your chin as you scroll down. Once you feel the craving hit, drive by and pick up some goodies. Tell Tracey and Chris we sent you :)

Jam for the Animals

One of my dearest friends is producing Jam For The Animals on June 18th 11am -11pm at the Anne Arundel County Fairgrounds. As a mom of two little pooches I couldn't resist spreading the word!

The proceeds benefit:

BARCS - Baltimore Area Rescue & Care Shelter
BARCS is a non-profit shelter that takes in 11,000 stray, unwanted and abused animals per year in addition to handling 35,000 animal welfare cases. While they are partially funded by Baltimore City they require huge amounts of fund raising and donations to keep their operation going.
MABB - Mid-Atlantic Bully Buddies
MABB is a small rescue and foster center for some of the most misunderstood and mistreated breeds: Pit Bulls, Staffordshire Terriers, Staffordshire Bull Terriers, American Bulldogs, Boxers and breed mixes. They were founded in 2002.
Rude Ranch Animal Rescue, Inc.
Rude Ranch was founded in 1997 and has made its goals finding permanent, loving homes for all adoptable animals; providing a safe haven and rehabilitation to feral and rescued cats; and ending needless euthanasia. Rude Ranch also aids feral cat colony caregivers with Trap/Neuter/Vaccinate/Release consulting.

Head out to Jam for The Animals and listen to the sounds of:

Stage 1 ~ Ballyhoo!, Pasadena, Shook, The Jello Boys, Crooked Crow, Bond & Bentley, Jenn Reichwein, Can't Hang, Higher Hands, The Biondi Brothers Band, and the dance troupe Gypsy Fusion.
Performing on Stage 2~  FNA, Full Circle, Switchman, Lost Angel of Havik, R2G2, and On the Rocks

Tickets can be purchased through Rams Head Live

Animal Rescue Fund Inc. of Maryland

Check them out on FACEBOOK!

..and because blog posts are more fun with pictures, here are my little boys:

Mr. Lucky
Lucky is very loving and very busy. I like to describe him as a fish out of water.

Mr. Nyse (yes~ like the New York Stock Exchange)
Nyse was not super happy about this picture. It was during one of my "photoshoots" with all the kids. I wish I could clone this guy. Nyse really is the perfect dog. We like to think of him as gumby. We move him and he stays there. You can mold him into a comfy lap dog position and he won't move for hours.

1920's Vintage Glam

Our extremely talented artists Shanna and Beth spent the day with Intrigue Design and Decor, Allison Barnhill Designs, Elizabeth Ryan Photography,  and Caroline's Cupcakery  to create the perfect inspiration and creation for Elizabeth Anne Designs Inspired Creation Contest. Here is a sneak peek and to see even more glittery images, head over to Elizabeth Anne's blog. Be sure to leave a sweet comment about our work. We love to read them and it also helps us gain some points for the contest! Big thanks to Shanna and Beth for making the trip to Ridgely, Maryland and for taking their creative energy to the top level. We are so proud to have them on our Up-Do's team!

Mid-Atlantic Green Wedding Showcase

They are in and they were so worth the wait! Here are the pro pics of the Green Wedding Showcase from Balance Photography!

The Samuel Riggs Alumni Center in College Park, Maryland

Who wouldn't want this swag bag? I carry my reusable bag everywhere!

Some of our Up-Do's team.
L-R Ashley (hairstylist and make-up artist), Ashley (office manager) and Stacey (office manager)
Check out the awesome shampoo/conditioner we gave away~ LOVE, PEACE, PLANET by Tigi. It's part of their Eco Awesome line. One of our new favorite products!

While the bridal show was going on, we were busy backstage prepping the models for their walk on the runway.

Steffani working on a model. We used several of our favorite eco-friendly products!

Ashley working on Leslie ( a previous Up-Do's client now turned model)

To create Leslie's look, we use Aveda Air Control  hairspray and Aveda's Custom Control.
You'd never know that we added a few extensions to Leslie's hair to make it a bit fuller.

Erica giving model Jessa a polished look.

Instead of using disposable sponges, we disinfect and clean brushes in between clients. This helps create less waste for the environment.

A look behind the scenes.

....and now time for the models to work it! Each model changed several times. Their hair and make-up went untouched!

Once again we were thrilled to be a part of this amazing showcase. We were even more excited to be the official hair and make-up sponsor. Be sure to check out the website for tips and ideas on how to make your wedding a more green.
