Over the weekend, I got the opportunity to see my grandmother. Now, I must preface, she is not your typical grandmother. I've never seen her in the same outfit, I'd love to steal a few of her handbags, she still rocks it out at all-day country concerts, and definitely do NOT mess with her Crown Royal whiskey! Anyway, I was admiring her beautiful skin shimmering in the August sun and I had to ask her, "how do you get your skin so soft and dewy?" Her answer surprised me.
Coffee grounds. Yes, used coffee grounds right from the filter. She takes the used grounds and instead of trashing them, she keeps them in a mason jar. She told me to add my favorite body wash or even olive oil into a palm-full of used coffee grounds and use as an all over body exfoliant. It removes the dead skin cells leaving your skin in a much healthier state. I've tried this technique and I have to say, its the best exfoliant I've ever used! My only negative finding is it takes a little extra time to make sure all the grounds go down the drain. Other than that, I've found my favorite exfoliant, which costs no money at all if you already drink coffee at home!
After doing a little research, I've found other uses for coffee grounds. It repels ants, is great to add into soils and potted plants, takes scratches off of furniture, and deodorizes your refrigerator and freezer. Who knew?!?
So not only is my grandmother young at heart and stylish, she's green! Go Nan!!
